IAS Industrial Automation is proud to announce that the company has recently achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification. While IAS has been certified for the “old” 2008 ISO 9001 standard since 2016, all ISO 9001-certified companies must comply with the new 2015 standard from September 2018. In recent months, we have worked hard to improve our quality system even further to achieve compliance with the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. Bureau Veritas, the implementing organisation for certification, visited IAS in May 2018 and assessed all aspects of compliance with the new standard. This assessment was completed with a successful result.
Background ISO 9001
ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for quality management. Based on this standard, the most important business processes are mapped and monitored. The assessment verifies whether these processes have been designed and implemented properly, or whether improvement is needed.
Continuous improvement of quality is key to implementing ISO 9001. This includes carrying out internal audits and customer satisfaction surveys. This occurs via the “Plan-Do-Check-Act” (PDCA) method:
- Plan: determining the goals and processes needed to achieve results that are in line with customers’ requirements and the organisation’s policy.
- Do: implementing the processes.
- Check: monitoring and measuring processes and products in relation to policy, goals and requirements for the product, as well as reporting the results.
- Act: undertaking measures to continuously improve the process performance.
Because staff learn to understand the processes well, they become increasingly aware of the consequences of their actions. This improves the quality and reliability of the organisation and its services.
